In the heart of the Contrada della Selva, the Church of San Sebastiano houses a mid-18th-century organ, the historical voice of our community for over two centuries. Today, this precious instrument is in need of restoration to play again.
Thanks to the ‘Let’s Art! 2025’ project by the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena, we can receive the sum of 5,000 euros, but only if we manage to raise at least the other half in time. How will the collected funds be used?
The funds raised will be dedicated to the restoration of the precious pipe organ in the Church of San Sebastiano—the focal point of the Contrada della Selva—as well as additional related works. This is an elegant instrument from the mid-1700s, purchased in 1821 and always an integral part of our Contrada’s liturgical life.
Already restored in 1935 and again in 1979, the instrument has continued to play up to the present day, becoming a historic and symbolic voice for the entire community. Unfortunately, due to prolonged use and the weight of age, this essential element of our Contrada has lost its voice. It is in urgent need of restoration work that can no longer be postponed.Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Contributions are not tax-deductible, as the Contrade are ancient legal entities under traditional law and do not fall among the organizations authorized to issue tax certificates.
